We just got back from an awesome overnight trip to Annapolis and Baltimore, MD. Scott and I went with great friends of ours, Drew and Allison. Taking advantage of the long weekend, we decided to book a bed & breakfast in Annapolis for Sunday night (Scotlaur Inn), which is located directly above the famous Chick & Ruth's Delly on Main Street.
We headed down to Annapolis mid-morning Sunday and arrived in time for lunch at Castlebay Pub. After a yummy lunch, we walked down to the harbor, did a little shopping, and hopped over to Pusser's Dock Bar for a drink on the water.
The weather was awesome and we definitely wanted to walk up to the Naval Academy campus, which was so gorgeous! Graduation was the previous week, so campus was pretty empty except for all the weddings. Apparently, a ton of grads get married immediately after graduation, making the chapel on campus a very popular place this time of year. We saw one service ending as another bridal party lined up for their turn. It was especially nice to visit the Naval Academy before Memorial Day and remember those who lost their lives fighting for us.
After an AMAZING dinner outside at The Federal House (seriously, if you're ever there, the cream of crab soup or the "grilled cheese" are both to.die.for) and the best ice cream ever at Kilwins, we walked up to the Maryland Inn to meet our tour guide for the haunted pub crawl! We went to a bunch of bars around Annapolis and heard about all the local ghosts (I also confirmed our B&B was not haunted). I even found the pub Guy Fieri visited on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
Monday morning we had breakfast at Chick & Ruth's and saw the Memorial Day parade on Main Street.
After a 30 minute drive up to Baltimore, we did a little poking around before taking a tour on the Seadog! Our guide, Kevin, was hilarious and it was awesome to get out on the water. We had time for a quick lunch at Tir Na Nog (yum!) before we headed home.
We had so much fun and will definitely go back to visit Annapolis! I was glad to step back and take a moment at the Naval Academy to remember those who died while serving in our armed forces. If you visit Annapolis, be sure to stop by- it is incredible!
